John McCall started J. McCall & Associates LLC with a focus on maximizing the effectiveness of sales organizations. John also is engaged in strategic planning and executive coaching and is an authorized independent distributor of Wiley Publishing® tools and training. John has successfully worked with many organizations in very diverse industries. With over forty years of successful sales and marketing experience, John offers his clients a blend of practical as well as proven methods to grow their businesses as well as their people.
Prior to starting J. McCall & Associates, John worked for five years with Banner, a global drug delivery company with a focus on the pharmaceutical and nutritional markets. John served in various roles, Global Vice President of Commercial Operations and President and COO of Essentia Pharmaceuticals, a Banner subsidiary. Under his leadership, Banner achieved record profits and growth. As President and COO of Essentia, this new specialty pharmaceutical company enabled Banner to market its products and services directly to the Senior market. Mr. McCall was responsible for building the organization and recruited a strong management and sales team. Essentia was eventually sold to King Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Essentia Pharmaceuticals, John held the title of President and COO of Collaborative Strategies, Inc, a global consulting company. John’s focus with CSI was on helping companies to build long term strategic value. During his tenure, Mr. McCall more than doubled revenues and profits.
From 1996-1998 John helped build and establish a new pharmaceutical company, Sanofi Pharmaceuticals. Sanofi Pharmaceuticals was created through the merger of Sanofi Winthrop and Bock Pharmacal. In his role as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mr. McCall effectively combined two diverse sales and marketing organizations. In addition, the sales force was expanded from 325 to over 750 representatives in less than one year, allowing for the highly successful collaboration with Bristol Myers Squibb on the launch of Avapro® and Plavix®. Revenues and profits grew dramatically under John’s leadership.
John previously served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bock Pharmacal from 1991 to 1996. During this time, Mr. McCall grew revenues from $5M to over $85M, built a national sales force, executed several co-promotion agreements and launched numerous drugs.
From 1980 to 1991, John worked for Storz Instrument Company. Mr. McCall had many roles with Storz including Regional Sales manager, Director of Sales and Vice President of Sales & Marketing. During his eleven years at Storz, revenues grew from $15M to over $150M. New specialty sales forces were built and the product line was successfully expanded to include capital equipment for the specialties of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery.
Upon graduation John embarked on his career with seven highly successful years with Baxter healthcare. Mr. McCall was a sales representative in Minnesota and won numerous sales awards. He was promoted in 1977 to help launch Travasol® and covered the entire Midwest region. Travasol® became the market leader in only two years.
Mr. McCall holds a BA degree from the University of Minnesota. He has been active in volunteering for the Humane Society and conducts two sales management workshops annually at Enterprise University.
